Connexa governance

Our owners

Connexa was formed in 2022 when Spark New Zealand sold its mobile tower infrastructure to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) - responding to the need for a specialist tower business to meet the increasing demand for mobile and wireless connectivity. In 2023, Connexa acquired 2degrees’ towers, securing our position as New Zealand’s largest mobile tower infrastructure business.

Today our co-controlling shareholders are OTPP and CDPQ, who each own a 50% equity stake in Connexa. Their global expertise and support help strengthen Connexa’s ability to deliver for our customers and communities.

OTPP is Canada’s largest single-profession pension plan and a leading global investor with $255CAD billion in net assets. They invest in more than 50 countries in a broad array of assets including public and private equities, fixed income, credit, commodities, natural resources, infrastructure, real estate and venture growth to deliver retirement income for 340,000 working members and pensioners.

CDPQ invests constructively to generate sustainable returns over the long term. As a global investment group managing funds for public pension and insurance plans, they work alongside their partners to build enterprises that drive performance and progress. They are active in the major financial markets, private equity, infrastructure, real estate and private debt, and have $473CAD billion in net assets.
